Emmett Gilman

Emmett Gilman specializes in complex commercial and employment litigation. He has successfully represented a wide variety of individuals and entities regarding claims of discrimination, sexual harassment, and retaliation under state and federal law.

Mr. Gilman also has extensive experience regarding complex business litigation including litigation concerning mortgage lending practices, automotive sales practices, purported violations of consumer protection statutes, sales of businesses, and resolution of disputes concerning planned unit developments and enforcement of planned unit development covenants, conditions, restrictions and bylaws.

Mr. Gilman has successfully represented a broad array of clients regarding multiple plaintiff, and class-based, statutory claims, contract claims, business tort claims, and related matters. He has handled complex cases in federal court, state court, and in administrative proceedings for clients in the banking, real estate, human resources, insurance, automotive, hospitality, and financial services industries. Mr. Gilman has extensive trial experience and has also represented numerous clients in arbitration and mediation proceedings.

Mr. Gilman has been retained by a diverse cross-section of businesses and individuals who value his ability to litigate aggressively while always keeping his client's financial, and practical, best interests in mind.

Mr. Gilman received a B.A. in Political Science Magna Cum Laude, from Virginia Commonwealth University in 1992, and received his J.D. from Widener University School of Law in 1995. He is a resident of San Francisco and is admitted to practice before all courts of the State of California, and the United States District Court for the Northern District of California. Mr. Gilman is an active member of several legal and community organizations.
